Other services you may find on the internet simply provide you with the forms to get divorced yourself or will complete and file a divorce petition on your behalf but only give you ‘advice’ on handling your own divorce as it proceeds, rather than ‘going on the court record’ and dealing with it for you like a solicitor would.
We, on the other hand, provide exactly the same service as a high-street solicitor would provide, except we deal by email and telephone rather than in person and we are much much cheaper.
When you instruct us through the site you will give brief details of the divorce grounds you are relying upon and will make a credit card payment onaccount of our fees of £250. We will telephone you back to take your full instructions for the divorce petition. We will send this to you, together with our pack of standard information by email or post to approve. Upon approval of the divorce petition, we will request the court issue fee from you if you have to pay, or discuss fee remission with you if you are eligible to have your court fee waived. If you are eligible for legal aid we will tell you this, claim legal aid on your behalf and refund your fee. We will then submit the divorce petition on your behalf and deal with the court and your spouse's solicitors until the decree absolute is pronounced.
If it becomes necessary to attend court, or if financial or children matters become contested or you require a more complex consent order than the standard clean break order normally used, then we will not abandon you like other service providers who are not solicitors. Instead, we will advise you of the recommended steps and the likely cost of these. If you want us to act on your behalf in these matters we will be happy to do so, including arranging for a solicitor to attend court with you where necessary. We will quote fixed fees for any additional element of work required whenever requested and will never charge you more than you have previously agreed with us.
Your matter will be dealt with by a qualified family solicitor (or in some cases a trainee solicitor under supervision by a qualified solicitor) throughout. We do not use 'case-handlers'.
We will keep you updated throughout by email, telephone and SMS messaging and you will be given a password for access to your own case file through our online matter tracking system. Unlike other systems, this is not just a'tick-list' of stages but online access to your actual file, including all letters, court forms and other documents sent and received on your behalf. You will never hear us say that a file is 'in dictation' and you will never be fobbed off with a secretary - you will be given the direct dial telephone number and the email address of the solicitor dealing with your file.
